UMA Family Picnic
Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of food and games at the Lake Elmo Park Reserve North Shelter, Sunday, August 1st from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Hot Dogs and beverages will be provided. Please bring a dish to share. There is a $5 park entry fee per vehicle (unless you have a Washington County Park Pass).

Booster Day Parade on Saturday, July 3rd
We are number 28 for the Booster Day Parade. For those of you joining us, we will be lining up on Oak Street between 3rd and 4th at 10:30 am. The parade starts at 11:00 am.
Students walking in the parade should wear their karate pants and bring their belts. We will provide them with a UMA t-shirt for the parade.
Parents are welcome to join us. If you are not walking along with your child/children, please plan to pick them up promptly at 12 (noon) at the Dairy Queen (9 Second Street).
For everyone else, please have a very safe and enjoyable 4th of July holiday. There will be no regular classes on Saturday, July 3rd.

Summer Schedule
The new Summer schedule will take effect on June 14th, 2010. Day classes have been added for Juniors on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Please note that there have also been a few changes made to the Junior class schedule on Fridays and Saturdays. The Adult schedule includes a new Green/Above offering on Thursdays and some minor time changes on Saturday, including the opportunity for adults to attend the Weapons class!

Advanced Belt Graduation
Congratulations to our newest Black Belts! Six students from the Hudson School earned their Black Belts on May 22nd. Our newest Black Belts are: A. Bixler, K. Johnson, M. Johnson, K. Hardman, Z. Selbitschka and O. Sigwarth.

May Dates of note...Graduations and Holidays
The Graduation Ceremony for students moving to Gold Belt through Adv. Red Belt will be held this Wednesday, May 5th. The school will be closed - no regular classes will be held on this date.
Also, the Advanced Belt Graduation Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 22nd at the Earle Brown Heritage Center. Please come and support those students earning their Brown, Adv. Brown and Black Belts. The school will be closed - no regular classes will be held on this date (no SK classes either). This event is free to attend (parking is also free).
Finally, the school will be closed on Monday, May 31st in honor of the Memorial Day holiday.

Hudson Boosters Parade July 3rd 2010
Save the date! We will be participating the in the Hudson Boosters Grand Parade again this year. The parade is on Saturday, July 3rd, 2010. The parade starts at 11:00 a.m. We usually begin our line-up around 10 a.m., (We will have the specific details about 2 - 3 days before the parade). Students wear their Karate Uniforms and perform combinations of moves, and/or use their bo staffs as they walk along the parade route and dazzle the audience. It's always a lot of fun. So if you are in town for the Holiday weekend, we'd love to have you join us!

Bring a Friend Days - April 13th and 15th, 2010
Students are welcome to "Bring A Friend" with them to their karate class on Tuesday, April 13th or Thursday, April 15th. For each friend, current students will earn 20 Karate Bucks!
Friends will get a chance to check out a class, try their hand(s) (and feet) at karate, and test their skills during the obstacle course.

Now Accepting Registrations for Summer Camps
USA Karate Hudson is currently accepting applications for half day Summer Camps. The camps will be offered the week of July 12th through 16th. Each half day camp has a unique theme - Forms for Competition, Weapons I (Bo, Chux, Escrima), Sparring for Competition, Weapons II (Sword, Kama, Fan) and a Superkid (Preschool) Camp. Half-day campers will be provided a snack. Come join the fun! Registration forms are available at the school and on the website.

Sylvan Learning Grand Opening
Join us in welcoming Sylvan Learning Center to the Prairie View Center on Saturday May 15th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We'll be there with games and prizes!
